The Lō'ihi Moku Lei is the grand finale of my 2025 work! The 35 inch (long line) statement necklace has over 22.5 inches of meticulously chosen shell fragments and sea glass pieces, loving and painstakingly arranged from small to large, and strung on hand twisted rope made from flat waxed polyester thread. Among the shell fragments you will find many well known patterns (hebrew, miter, flea, textile...just to name a few) and the chunky sea glass nuggets range from icy blue, to chartreuse, cornflower blue, teal and even yellow!
The Lō'ihi Moku Lei is named after the active seamount that is currently forming Hawaii's next island. Lō'ihi translates to "long" and is a perfect name for this longline lei.
The functional toggle closure is made with a sliding sea glass nugget and cowrie lip, but you will find that the lei will slip easily over your head without having to undo the closure.
This Lei is truly one of a kind. It is a subtle twist on a classic Hawaiian style. It was an honor to create and I look forward to sharing it with a fellow Moku lover.
