I take a great deal of pride in the puka jewelry that I make. It is my "bow" to the Hawaiian culture and the tradition of creating such beauty and intricate art out of natural, simple things. I make just a handful of these necklaces every year...only as many I can based on the and pukas I've found over the season. The treasures in this necklaces are some of my most beautiful finds of 2022.
For these Hawaiian Puka Bar Necklaces, I've taken the traditional puka style necklace and updated it for a more feminine and delicate look. These pieces are made from two dozen surf polished, colorful heirloom pukas. I call them "heirloom" because they are the top shelf pukas of my collection that I very rarely let go of. The pukas telescope from small to big and back to small again, approximately 5mm pukas at either end and 10mm pukas at the center. The puka portion of each necklace measures between 3.75-4.5 inches (depending on your selection), which leaves the top portion exposed. The exposed cord is a hand twisted 4ply rope. It both durable and delicate and adds another unique texture to this wearable work of art!
The puka toggle closure is secure and easy to use. Just slide the small pearl to open and close the toggle loop. AND NOW choose between a 16 or 18 inch finished necklace length!
The Hawaiian Puka Bar Choker is a fun and wearable take on a traditional design...beachy, feminine and beautifully Hawaiian...and never another like it.
To you. From me.
Love,
The Sea
