This incredible Hapa Necklace showcases the many shades of puka shells and blends them together seemlesly in a sweet "cotton candy sunrise" ombre. Gleaming white, to barely there pastel, icy lavender to deep purple and warm almond to robust walnut. Only nature could create a palette as perfect as this.
Over 5 dozen surf polished pukas are arranged to create this striking ombre. Strung with light at either end and dark at the center on hand twisted 4 ply rope (made from flat waxed polyester thread) in a chestnut shade of medium brown.
The secure adjustable closure is created using a sliding freshwater pearl, and each cord end is finished with 3 miniature pukas. The details of this necklace are sweetly feminine as well as durable and functional.
While the pukas are the star of this piece, the exposed rope cord adds another beautiful and interesting texture and also gives the necklace its name...Hapa translates to 'half' in Hawaiian and refers to my signature half rope, half shell design.
