I take a great deal of pride in the puka jewelry that I make. It is my "bow" to the Hawaiian culture and the tradition of creating such beauty and intricate art out of natural, simple things. I make just a handful of these necklaces every year...only as many I can based on the and pukas I've found over the season. The treasures in this necklaces are some of my most beautiful finds of 2022.
These delicate and sweet Hapa Puka & Pearl Necklaces feature gorgeous surf tumbled pukas and one beautiful pearl at the center.
The chocolate pearl necklace includes 18 colorful pukas (measuring 3.25 inches) in a variety of brown shades. The white pearl necklace has 22 pukas (measuring 4 inches) in warm light neutral shades
The pukas used in these two necklaces range from 10mm across to 5mm across. The shell and pearl portion of the necklace is strung on hand twisted 4 ply rope cord. The top half of the pieces are exposed, giving the necklace its name, "Hapa" which translates to "half." The cord is durable with a delicate look and adds another unique texture to this wearable work of art!
A miniature pearl creates the secure and easy to use toggle closure. Slide the small pearl up or down to open or close the toggle loop and slip the shell toggle in or out.
AND FOR THE FIRST TIME choose between 16, 18 or 20 inch for your finished necklace length. These pieces are unfinished, allowing you to pick your perfect size!
The Hapa Necklace is one of my very favorite original designs...it is beachy, elegant, feminine and beautifully Hawaiian...and never another piece exactly like this one.
To you. From me.
Love,
The Sea
