I take a great deal of pride in the puka jewelry that I make. It is my "bow" to the Hawaiian culture and the tradition of creating such beauty and intricate art out of natural, simple things. I make just a handful of these necklaces every year...only as many I can based on the and pukas I've found over the season. The treasures in this necklaces are some of my most beautiful finds of 2022.
This stunningly exquisite, one of a kind Hapa Heirloom Puka & Edison Pearl Necklace is like nothing you have seen before. A beautiful and LARGE (17mm!) pale blush color Edison Pearl is the center piece of this stunning and unique necklace. It is surrounded by nearly 4 dozen surf tumbled pukas in warm neutral tones. The pukas range from 15mm across to 5mm across. The shell and pearl portion of the necklace measures 9 inches, which leaves the top half exposed, giving the necklace its name, "Hapa" which translates to "half." The exposed cord is a beautiful almond color hand twisted 4ply rope. It is durable with a delicate look and adds another unique texture to this wearable work of art!
The sliding pearl allows for adjustability up to 26 inches and puka details finishes the cord at each end and hang down the center of the back.
The Hapa Necklace is one of my very favorite original designs and this piece in particular is absolutely stunning...beachy, elegant, feminine and beautifully Hawaiian...and never another like it.
To you. From me.
Love,
The Sea
